Grandidierite was first discovered in 1902 in Madagascar by Alfred Lacroix, a French mineralogist. It was named for French explorer and naturalist Alfred Grandidier. This mineral is only found in a few locations (Namibia, Sri Lanka, Malawi and Madagascar). It is quite rare and is a valuable healing tool.

This stone resonates with the throat and heart chakras to improve honest communication and ensure that one speaks from the heart. It is useful in reducing inflammation in the throat, tonsils, ears and bronchi and will assist those who are short of breath. Grandidierite encourages open and loving relationships and supports thoughtful emotional decisions. It discourages one from speaking in anger and teaches that conflict should be resolved with compassion and understanding.
